OGDEN, Utah –
Cian Noli and
Payton Crank both slugged homers and set new career-highs with five RBIs each, helping lead the University of Utah softball team to a 17-0 trouncing of the Weber State Wildcats on Tuesday evening at Wildcat Field in Ogden, Utah.
This win boosts Utah's 2026 record to 26-13-1.
"I couldn't be happier with the game today," said coach
Amy Hogue. "Hitting, pitching and defense were all spot on. Being prepared is only part of what needs to happen and today we were prepared and we performed. [Kennedy] Proctor has been looking better and we moved her up and she had a big day, as did our freshmen with the homers and the career highs in RBIs for two of them. Big team win today."
Noli struck first for the visitors. Coming up with two on and two out in the opening frame, she launched a three-run homer to the right-center, her fourth long ball of the season. One inning later,
Hailee White poked an RBI single into left, upping Utah's lead to 4-0.
Utah blew the game wide open in the third, which started with a single, a sacrifice, a walk and a run-scoring error. That brought up Crank, who pulverized the first pitch she saw, sending it over the wall in center for an 8-0 advantage. Three batters later,
Mia Gomez added two more to the tally. with her team-high ninth round-tripper of the season.
In the fourth, Noli reached her new career-high with a two-run double to left and scored soon after courtesy of a
Sianni Sakai RBI single.
Kennedy Proctor blasted the final homer of the day with a runner on in the fifth and Crank pushed her RBI total to five on the day four batters later with a two-run knock.
In the circle, starter
Shelbee Jones and
Raci Miranda, who entered in relief in the fourth, completely shut down Weber State's lineup. In three innings, Jones permitted only one hit and struck out five. She also retired the last five batters she faced to earn her 10th win of the year. Miranda was just as overpowering, setting down all six batters she faced to ice the victory.
Utah's 12 shutouts are their most in a single season since they blanked 17 opponents in 2017. Noli and Crank are the fourth and fifth Utes to notch at least five RBIs in a game in 2026, joining a list that also includes
Kayla Lyon,
Kennedy Proctor and
Shonty Passi.
