SALT LAKE CITY – The newest member of the University of Utah softball team is pitcher Lizzy Tommasini, the program announced on Friday.
"Lizzy is an experienced Division I pitcher who understands how to navigate lineups and get quality hitters out in a variety of ways," said coach
Amy Hogue. "Her softball IQ, competitiveness, and ability to make adjustments set her apart. We're excited to welcome her to Utah and know she's ready for the challenge of competing in the Big 12."
Tommasini spent her first three collegiate seasons at Idaho State, including a 2025 campaign in which she pitched to a career-best 3.29. During that year, she collected a team-best three saves and piled up seven wins, including a complete game victory over Texas Tech in which she permitted only one earned run. In 2026, Tommasini added six more wins, including a March 20 defeat of Oregon State, and three more saves to her ledger. In each of her last two seasons at ISU, she helped the Bengals capture the conference regular season championship and the 2026 squad won the Big Sky Tournament as well to earn the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament berth.
Tommasini is the Utes' second transfer portal addition so far in 2026. The program announced the addition of catcher Anya German on June 17.
