Passi’s Grand Slam Helps Utes Top UVU

Six-run fourth fuels 8-4 victory
The Utes now own an overall mark of 33-18-1 in 2026.
"Tonight was a nice tribute to our seniors," said coach Amy Hogue. "All of them had a chance to play and to contribute to the win. Shonty's grand slam allowed us to make all the changes in the lineup that we were hoping to make and Raci got herself another win. All around, it was a great day to be a Ute."
It was the Wolverines who struck in the initial stanza, putting their first four runners on during a stretch that included an RBI single from Amber Rodriguez. UVU added another run on a double play, but Utah starter Raci Miranda stopped the scoring there.For two innings, the Utes were held scoreless, but three walks and a Danika Wilson RBI single in the third got the home side on the board. The fourth inning is when the home side erupted to take the lead.
The bottom of the fourth started with a Cian Noli single and a Payton Crank double to put two runners in scoring position. Three batters later, Reese Lee slapped a run-scoring single through the left side to tie the score. Back-to-back walks then forced in the go-ahead run and brought up Passi, who lined a 1-1 pitch down the left field line and just inside the foul pole for Utah's second grand slam of 2026.
Miranda, meanwhile, kept the Wolverines in check after the first, putting up four consecutive zeroes. Over her final three frames, retired nine of ten batters she faced, allowing only a fifth-inning single, before leaving after five, having not permitted an earned run.
Utah added one more tally in the sixth on a Noli sacrifice fly and Utah Valley attempted to mount a comeback in seventh, plating a pair before Brooklyn Carreon recorded the final out to lock up the Utes' 33rd victory of 2026.

The Utes will begin their final home series of the regular season on Friday, when they host the No. 19/20 Arizona Wildcats at 5 p.m.
