AUSTIN, Texas - All-conference, all-tournament and now All-West Region. University of Utah softball second baseman Jackie Wong can add first team all-region accolades to her bevy of honors for the 2005 season.
The senior from Antioch, Calif., was named to the 2006 Louisville Slugger/NFCA first team All-Region team this afternoon. Wong led the team, the conference and ranked among the tops in the nation in batting all season long. Currently, the leadoff hitter smacks the ball around at a .448 clip. She leads the team with 86 hits, six of which are triples.
Wong is eyeing the school's single-season batting mark. The record has stood since 1994 when Amy Timmel hit an impressive .455 for the season.
Wong has also been a threat on the bases as well. Her slugging percentage checks in at .615 while her on-base percentage is an eye-popping .500. She has swiped 19 bases in 23 chances.
While she been has an offensive force all season, she is also one of the premiere infielders. In over 200 chances on the season, Wong has committed only one error and owns a .996 fielding percentage.
In all, there were 237 players from 116 different teams that made up the first and second all-region teams. The honorees are now eligible for selection to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second or third teams.

Wong and her Utah softball team return to the diamond to toil in the NCAA Tournament here in Austin, Texas. First-round action begins on Friday, May 19, when Utah battles Indiana. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. (CDT).
