COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The University of Utah softball team wrapped up play at the Texas A&M Invitational with a 5-2 loss to Miami University in rain-soaked College Station, Texas, this afternoon.

It was Jamie Arundel's bat that did the most damage, lifting her RedHawks to a 6-8 record and their first win in the tournament. She was 2-for-2 with three of the five RBI. The Utes chalk up their second straight loss in falling to 8-12 overall.

Ute hurler Brianna Gourdin takes the loss, stumbling to 5-6 for the year. She allowed five earned runs on eight hits. Gourdin also struck out three to only two walks. Gourdin's counterpart, Miami's Courtney Salmon, gets the win in improving to 4-3 for the year.

Utah tapped Miami pitcher Courtney Salmon for four hits, two of which came from the bat of Devina Quintero. She was 2-for-2 on the day. However, Kate Nygaard was 1-for-3 with a two-run home run.

The Utes staged a seventh-inning rally. With two outs and Kelly Matthews on first, Nygaard sent one over the left field fence to make it 5-2. However, it was all the Utes had as Miami held on for the three-run win.

Miami's Arundel tallied two of her three RBI in the third inning. On one swing of the bat, she made it 2-0 with a home run to left. Another Arundel single to left in the fourth plated an RBI that gave MU the 3-0 lead. A pair of two-out, RBI doubles in the seventh inning stretched the RedHawk lead to its final of five runs.
