SALT LAKE CITY – College Sports Communicators released its Baseball Academic All-District Teams on Tuesday and five members of the 2026 Utah Baseball team were lauded for their efforts both on the diamond and in the classroom.
The group includes right-handed pitcher
Justin Abercrombie, two-way player
Demitri Diamant, right-handed pitcher
Dylan Gazaway, center fielder
Jet Gilliam and right-handed pitcher
Seth Graham-Pippin.
A native of Simi Valley, California,
Abercrombie came to Utah for his final collegiate season after a three-year stint at Cal State Dominguez Hills. He made 17 appearances on the mound with the Utes this past year, tossing 27.2 innings and finishing 1-3 with three saves. He recorded 24 strikeouts, including a season-best four in wins over both Kansas State and Texas Tech. Abercrombie graduated in May with his degree in economics.
Diamant returned to Utah following an injury-shortened 2025 season, taking on a key role in the bullpen. He made 19 appearances, including a start during the Big 12 Tournament. The Las Vegas native went 2-1 with a 2.93 ERA and one save in 40 innings pitched with 28 strikeouts. He contributed a career-high eight strikeouts in the series-opening win over Baylor as Diamant pitched 3.2 innings of relief. He graduated with a degree in health, society and policy.
A graduate in communication from Orem, Utah,
Gazaway went 4-1 with 20 appearances and two saves. He was part of a combined shutout of Grand Canyon back on March 8, tossing the final four innings and going 12 up, 12 down with four strikeouts. It was Gazaway's second season with the Utes after beginning his collegiate journey at Lane Community College in Oregon.
Gilliam transferred to Utah following a year in the ACC at NC State. The All-Big 12 Honorable Mention pick was Utah's go-to center fielder, appearing in all 51 games and making 50 starts. His numbers in conference play ranked among the league leaders in batting average (3
rd; .393), OBP (7
th; .455) and hits (T-5
th; 46). The communication major showed his range in center field throughout the season with 144 putouts, error-free defense and several run-saving plays. Gilliam also strung together a 13-game hitting streak, the fourth-longest on the team this season.
Graham-Pippin made 18 pitching appearances with six starts, taking on the Sunday starter role down the home stretch of the season. The Las Vegas native and communication major pitched a total of 40.2 innings, striking out 35 batters. Graham-Pippin earned the save in an opening weekend victory at Fresno State, while fanning a season-high six batters during his start against Texas Tech.
