Utah’s six seniors honored in pregame ceremony
Â
Utah finishes 2026 with a record of 4-10-5 in 2026 and 1-7-3 in conference. Kansas State's final mark is 7-7-5 and 2-7-2 in the Big 12.
"Tonight was one of the stranger games I've been a part of," said coach Hideki Nakada. "It felt like everything that could have gone wrong seemed to go in that direction. If we were able to put away our early chances, I think it could have been a very different game.
"I also want to take a moment to thank our five outgoing seniors for everything they've given to this program. Berna, Bre, Kaella, Sophie, and Rylan have given so much to this team and this program, and we're incredibly grateful for all they've done. They have represented Utah with pride, and they'll always be a part of this program."Â
The Wildcats came out aggressive in the opening moments, earning a pair of corner kicks in the first three minutes. Anna Solomon kept the Wildcats off the board, making back-to-back saves on shots by Allison Marshall in the third and fifth minutes. Utah began attacking soon after, earning its first corner kick in the 11th minute before Shannon Davidson put the Utes' first shot on target at the 19:58 mark, but the attempt was saved by Kansas State's Maddie Sibbing.Â
Both teams continued looking for the opening score, with Solomon posting two more saves on shots from Marshall and McKinnan Braswell. Kansas State broke through in the 30th minute when Rilyn Rintoul found the back of the net with a shot to the bottom right corner and the visitors added another before halftime. Utah looked to respond late in the period, earning a corner kick in the final minute that led to a Kennedy Fletcher shot on target that was stopped by Sibbing.
Â
Kansas State tacked on a third just two minutes into the second half, when Lailah Benz found the back of the net off an assist from Lauren Moylan. The Wildcats found another goal in the 53rd minute, with Rintoul finding the bottom right corner to make it a 4-0 game and KSU added a fifth in the 76th minute. Utah continued pushing to get on the board, with Julia Oka putting a shot on target in the 51st minute and the Utes earning three corner kicks in the span of three minutes later in the half, but they were unable to capitalize. Maddie Stoddard putt a shot on target in the 70th minute and Jastel David also recorded multiple attempts late in the half, but the Utes were unable to get on the board.
Â
The visiting side finished the evening with an 18-10 advantage in shots and a 9-4 edge in on-target tries. David's four total shots led both squads and Katie Callaway was credited with two.
