Seats have been installed as construction reaches the late innings
SALT LAKE CITY - Construction has reached the late innings on Charlie Monfort Field at America First Ballpark as the 2026 season approaches for the University of Utah baseball program. Seats have been installed throughout the lower bowl and sod installation is anticipated soon for grass berm seating in the outfield.
Lighting and audio systems are in place as well. For the indoor training facility, netting will be put in place soon for the hitting tunnels and pitching lab.
Associate AD for facilities, operations and capital projects Gavin Gough welcomed Utah fans to the ballpark for another video tour to share some updates on construction progress.
Utah begins the 2026 season on February 13 and will play its inaugural series in the Utes' new home from March 6-9, welcoming Grand Canyon to Salt Lake City.
Located on Guardsman Way at the program's former practice facility, the new venue will feature permanent seating for 1,200 fans with additional grass berm seating in the outfield--bringing overall capacity to 3,000. Baseball support areas on-site will include locker rooms, coaches' offices, medical space, equipment storage, indoor batting/pitching cages and press box. Every seat for fans is close to the FieldTurf playing surface--creating an intimate college baseball environment--while still offering the comfort of close access to restrooms, concessions and other amenities.
