SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah baseball program and head coach
Gary Henderson have announced that the Utes will face the Vanderbilt Commodores in a Fall exhibition game on Friday, Oct. 10 with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m. MT.
The game will be played at The Ballpark at America First Square in South Jordan, Utah, the recently-opened home of the Salt Lake Bees. Admission will be free, giving fans an early chance to preview the 2026 Utah squad.
Additional details, including format for the game, will be announced at a later date.
The Utes are preparing for their second season in the Big 12 Conference, welcoming a cast of returners as well as newcomers ready to make an impact. First-team All-Big 12 selection and right-handed pitcher
Colter McAnelly enters his junior year, coming off a campaign where he ranked among the Big 12 regular season leaders in innings pitched (1st), strikeouts (5th) and opponent batting average (7th; .236).
The Utes had two players selected in the 2025 MLB Draft. Left-handed pitcher
Bryson Van Sickle, the 2024 Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year, was also signed to a minor league contract by the Colorado Rockies.
Henderson's program is approaching an exciting milestone with the on-campus opening of Charlie Monfort Field at America First Ballpark. Installation of the field turf surface was completed earlier this month, allowing the team to practice while construction continues in other areas of the ballpark. The facility is located on Guardsman Way on the southern tip of campus.
Vanderbilt enters the 2026 season coming off a 43-win campaign, winning the SEC Tournament championship and earning the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. This past summer, the Commodores had seven players selected in the MLB Draft. Led by head coach Tim Corbin since 2003, the Commodores are one of the most successful college baseball programs of the 21st century, having won the NCAA Championship in 2014 and 2019.
