FIRST PITCH
Utah will host Gonzaga for its first home game at Smith's Ballpark on Tuesday, March 12 at 2 p.m.
The Utes are 6-5 and have won five of their last six games and the Bulldogs are 5-8 on the season.
OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION
The Utes have been hot at the plate scoring double-digit runs in four of their last five games. They have scored 16 runs against UNLV, 14 against Western Carolina, 12 against Wright State and 10 against Niagara.
Over the stretch where they have won five of their last six, they have averaged 9.67 runs per game. Before that stretch, they were only averaging 3.4 runs per game.
MOELLER RETURNS TO LINEUP
After sitting out the 2018 season with Tommy John surgery,
Zack Moeller returned to the lineup as a catcher or designated hitter and is expected to be a boost not only for the offense, but also the defense behind the plate.
Since Utah beat San Diego, he is hitting .385 with 16 RBI and three home runs. Against UNLV, one of those home runs was his second career grand slam.
With that grand slam, Moeller had a career high six RBI against UNLV and then followed that up with six more RBI against Wright State.
