OREM, Utah - The Utah women's volleyball team snapped a three-match losing streak with a 3-0 victory over Utah Valley on Tuesday, Oct. 23 in Orem.
"We were on top of all aspects of our game tonight," head coach Beth Launiere said. "I thought we played a very good match, everyone was here and they were focused. We served really well and have really been working on blocking in practice."
Kathryn Haynie led Utah in kills for the second-straight match, with 13. Kate Robison tallied 11 kills with two aces. Lori Baird had eight blocks on the night. Connie Dangerfield recorded 14 digs. Keisha Fisher had 22 assists.
As a team, Utah hit .355, its highest percentage of the season.
Haynie tallied six kills in game one for Utah en route to a 30-17 victory. The Utes never trailed after taking control early and methodically pulling away.
Game two went back-and-fourth, as each team had a series of runs throughout the match leading to nine ties and seven lead changes. With the score tied 24-24, Utah reeled off three quick points with two kills from Robison plus a block by Whitney Webb and Chelsey Sandberg to take a 27-24 lead, going on to win 30-26.
Utah had one if its most dominant performances of the season in game three with a 30-15 victory. The Utes took a 21-3 lead before Utah Valley got any kind of handle on the game. Robison had five kills in the final game.
Terin Ledall led Utah Valley with nine kills. Allyce Wilson had 14 digs.
The Utes return to Crimson Court on Friday, Oct. 26 for Mountain West foe Wyoming at 7 p.m.
