SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Volleyball has signed middle blocker Princess Atamah from Prato, Italy, for its upcoming 2026 season.
Atamah is expected to join the Utes this summer.
"Princess is a gifted, physical player with outstanding international experience and a true love for the game," said head coach
Alyssa D'Errico. "When she plays, her joy, humility, and hunger to compete are unmistakable, and she brings a presence that impacts everyone around her. She adds the exact physicality, competitiveness, and work ethic we look for to compete on the national stage, and just as importantly, she's a fantastic person who will make a tremendous impact on our program and culture."

As one of the tallest girls in her class growing up, Atamah found her way to volleyball, starting with her city's club team where she grew as a player until the age of 12.
In 2019, at the age of 13, Atamah made the difficult decision to move three hours away from her family to Rome to join a bigger club (Volleyro Casal de'Pazzi) to continue honing her skills. Atamah played in the Italian National Finals four times (2019-22), taking sixth, first, and second place twice, and was awarded Best Middle Blocker three consecutive times.
In 2023, Atamah moved up to senior-level volleyball, starting in Serie A2 with Bartoccini Perugia before switching to Picco Lecco in 2024.
Atamah currently competes in Serie A1 with Cuneo.
Additionally, Atamah has spent time with the Italian National team, racking up three first place finishes, one second place and one third place finish since 2022.
While with the U19 team, Atamah took first place at the CEV U19 European Championship and third place at the FIVB Volleyball Girls' U19 Championship in 2023. As a member of the U20 team, she took first place at the WEVZA U20 Women's Championship (European Qualification Tournament), and second place at the Women's U20 European Volleyball Championship in 2024. Atamah added one more first place finish to her resume as a U21 team member at the WEVZA U21 Women's Championship (European Qualification Tournament) in 2025.
Utah's newest middle blocker is 6'1" and the daughter of Atamah Ugbodu Atamah and Omokhoa Dorothy with three siblings (Charles, Devine, and Blessing). Atamah enjoys playing other sports, shopping, crocheting, and trying new things in her spare time.
