Utah Volleyball Earns 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award

Utes recognized for high academic standard through 2025-26 season
SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Volleyball has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) 2026 Team Academic Award for maintaining a year-long grade point average of 3.3 or higher through the last scholastic season.
"Receiving the AVCA Team Academic Award is a great reflection of who our players choose to be every day," head coach Alyssa D'Errico said. "We believe how you do anything is how you'll do everything, and our team has embraced the standard of competing for excellence in the classroom just as they do on the court. Their 3.562 team GPA is a testament to the character they've built when no one is watching and their commitment to leaving our program better than they found it. I'm incredibly proud of this group for proving that elite performance starts with elite habits."
The Utes are among 1,432 collegiate and high school teams to receive recognition from the AVCA for emphasizing the importance of academic excellence along with on-court success.
Last season, Utah Volleyball not only made its 20th appearance in the NCAA Tournament but helped to set a high academic bar for the program and athletic department.
Returning outside hitter Kamryn Gibadlo earned CSC Academic All-District along with departing senior Leah Wilton-LaBoy last December, helping set the team up for its highest grade point average since 2020.
Utah Volleyball was also a key player for a historic academic effort for the entire Utah Athletic Department and had 10 athletes earn Big 12 Fall 2025 Academic Honors.
Fans can get their first look at the 2026 Utah Volleyball team on Friday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. MT during an open practice at Park City High School in Park City, Utah.
