The University of Utah baseball team split a double-header with the Pacific tigers on Saturday, losing game one 8-5, the picking up their first win of the season in game two, 9-0.
Game one saw the Utes fall behind 5-0 after the first inning. They kept fighting and got to within 7-5 after seven, but couldn't get any closer. Tigers pitcher Matthew Pena pitched the final 1.1 innings, allowing only two walks.
Adam Castleton and Sam Swenson both hit home runs for Utah in the game. Swenson finished the game 4-for-4 with three runs scored, a double, a home run and an RBI. Castleton was 2-for-2 with the homer and three walks.
In game two the Utes jumped out 2-0 after one inning and just piled it on from there. Starting pitcher Travis Palmer went 6 innings, allowing three hits and zero runs. He walked four while recording one strike out.
Brit Pannier went deep for the Utes, along with scoring three runs. Seven Utah starters scored at least one run.
