MATCH WEEK
The Utes return home to host the Washington Huskies and the eleventh-ranked Washington State Cougars. The match with Washington will be Friday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. MT on the Utah Live Stream. Utah closes out the weekend on Sunday, Nov. 19, with first serve coming against the Washington State Cougars at 12 p.m. MT.Â

Utah Volleyball will be honoring the members of our armed forces on Friday, Nov. 17 with a Military Appreciation game. When the Utes return to the court on Sunday, Nov. 18, Utah will be celebrating their Ute Appreciation game.

• Utah tallied their highest hitting percentage in PAC 12 action since Oct. 1 at UCLA, putting together a .286 clip in their match against Arizona.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
Washington started the season 9-2 through their non-conference slate, before the beginning of PAC-12 play set them on a three-game skid at the end of September. Most recently, the Huskies have lost three of their last four matches with a road win coming over California in four sets. Madi Endsley and Mary Pertofsky lead the Husky attack averaging over 3 kills per set. Washington owns a 5-6 record on the road.Â
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Washington State has eclipsed the 20-win mark for the fifth time in six seasons under head coach Jen Greeny. Climbing the top 25 polls with multiple marquee wins including defeats of #8 BYU, #18 Baylor and #6 Texas in consecutive matches. The Cougars have also racked up a pair of wins over top 25 PAC-12 opponents, taking down #6 Oregon in Eugene. The Cougars are coming off a pair of five set matches in Pullman, falling to UCLA, before earning their fifth top 25 win with a defeat of #25 USC. As one of the PAC-12's most dynamic players, Magda Jehlarova leads the Cougars with a .414 hitting percentage putting her second in the conference. Jehlarova also leads the Cougars and the conference in blocks per set, with 142 total on the season averaging 1.45 blocks per set.
TAKING A LOOK BACK
Earlier this season, Utah traveled to both Washington and Washington State. The Utes fell to then #4 Washington State in three sets. The Utes would go on to close out their trip, falling to the Huskies in a five-set battle. The final two sets against the Huskies saw 80 points combined. After taking the first set from Washington and then dropping the following pair of sets to the Huskies. The Utes used a strong fourth-set performance to force a fifth round battle. Four Utes tallied double-digit kills in the match. With
Emrie Satuala posting a team-high 18 kills.
Kamryn Gibadlo added 13 kills along with Kamry Baily and
Allie Olsen contributing 11 apiece.
HIGH-POWERED OFFENSE
The Utah attack was firing on all cylinders over the weekend, recording their most kills in a PAC-12 weekend road series. The Utes combined for 95 kills between their matches against Arizona and Arizona State.
Kamryn Gibadlo contributed 23 kills to the total on the total, with 13 coming against the Wildcats before adding 10 more in the match against the Sun Devils.
Allie Olsen tallied 21 kills in the weekend slate with 13 kills of her own against Arizon, with just one error. Olsen added eight kills on 18 swings with just two errors against Arizona State.
Amelia Van Der Werff and
Lauren Jardine would combine for 30 kills in Utah's battle in the desert, putting down 15 kills each.
MAKING A CASE IN THE MIDDLE
Utah has received contributions from its middle blockers on a nightly basis.
Emrie Satuala and
Allie Olsen lead the team with 89 and 77 blocks, respectively. Satuala has exploded since the beginning of the season. The transfer didn't record a match of double-digit kills until the eighth match of the season but has since posted double-digit kills in seven of last 15 matches, including hitting over .250 in all but three matches during the stretch. Satuala holds a team-best 1.05 blocks per set. Olsen has posted 12 matches of .350 hitting or above, which includes six at a .500 clip or better. Olsen captured 13 kills on the road trip while hitting above .400 in each match. Former middle blocker
Amelia Van Der Werff has made the move to the right side and provided a spark on the outside. Van Der Werff totaled 15 kills with just three errors along with one block over the weekend in Arizona. Van Der Werff tied her career-high of six digs against USC earlier this year. Olsen, Van Der Werff, and Satuala are the top three Utes in hitting percentage this season.Â
CAN'T SEE IT, CAN'T BEAT IT
The Utes put on a clinic against Arizona earlier this year, recording 17 service aces, the most in program history during the rally-scoring era. Utah was led by
Emily Smith and
Vanessa Ramirez as Smith collected a career-high six aces while Ramirez added a career-high five aces.
Viktoria Wahlgren leads the Utes with 33 aces and totaled a career-high 10 aces at UCLA. It marks the most aces by a Ute in a single match since 2018. She has posted nine matches with at least two aces this season to lead the team. The Utes posted three aces against Arizona last Thursday and three against Arizona State on Saturday.
RAMIREZ RUNNING THE BACK ROW
Starting libero
Vanessa Ramirez is leading the Utah defense once again as she has done since day one in Salt Lake City. She is fifth in the Pac-12 with 3.59 digs per set and has recorded double-digit digs in all but three matches this season. The California native recorded a season-high 24 digs in just four sets against Weber State for her second match of 20-plus digs this season. Ramirez tallied 22 digs against NC State earlier this year and has 11 matches of 20 or more digs in her career. Last year, Ramirez led the team in digs in 27 of the 31 matches, while she finished third in the Pac-12 with 4.04 digs per set. She has led the team or tied for the lead in digs in all but one match this season so far. Ramirez tallied 17 digs against Arizona State and nine against Arizona. She is now fourth all-time in program history with 1,393 total career digs.
THE FRESHMAN FINISHER
Outside hitter,
Kamryn Gibadlo has shined so far in her first season with the Utes. The Cave Creek, Ariz., native leads the team with 15 matches of 10 or more kills during her true freshman season. She posted eight kills off the bench at UCLA on .412 hitting, while recording 11 kills at Colorado in her first conference match. Gibadlo dominated the floor vs. UC Santa Barbara during the Utah Classic, capturing 17 kills. The freshman has posted double-digit kills in seven of the last nine matches. In her most recent bid, Gibadlo finished with 13 kills versus Arizona and 10 against the Sun Devils.
SETTING IT UP
Sophomore setter
Viktoria Wahlgren has earned the start in every match this season and has recorded 9.15 assists per set. Wahlgren also recorded a career-best 51 assists with six digs and four blocks at Washington. This is the first time a Utah setter recorded over 50 assists in a match since Stef Jankiewicz racked up 50 assists versus Colorado on Nov. 27, 2021. Wahlgren has posted eight matches of 40 or more assists and has recorded two double-doubles this season. Against Arizona, Wahlgren compiled 36 assists and added 31 assists against Arizona State.Â
AUTOMATIC ALLIE
Starting middle blocker
Allie Olsen is coming off a season where she recorded a .363 hitting percentage, which ranked as the sixth-best percentage in a single season in program history. Olsen has hit above .500 in seven matches so far, while she has hit above .350 in half of the matches so far this season. At the Utah Classic, she earned All-Tournament Team honors after hitting at a blazing .419 clip through three matches. Olsen recorded a season-high .692 hitting percentage against Tennessee State from nine kills and no errors while hitting .538 against San Francisco. The middle blocker totaled 21 kills this past weekend and hit .750 against the Wildcats and .333 against Arizona State.
