PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – No. 21 Utah found itself in a battle with Temple on Saturday morning, but came out victorious after winning the fourth and fifth set to earn their sixth win of the season.

Lauga Gauta and
Bailey Choy both had career days as Gauta finished with 23 kills and Choy tied her career mark in assists with 57. Both had double-doubles in the match as well.

Temple took an early lead in the first set, but Utah evened things up quickly. Both teams traded points until the Utes surged ahead 18-14 forcing the Owls to take a timeout.

After getting to 20, Utah stopped a Temple run with two straight points to lead 22-19, but the Owls responded once again winning six of the last seven points to take the first set, 25-23.

 The Utes took control early in the second set with a 7-0 run. Temple chipped away at the lead, but the Utes stayed in control until late in the set. The Owls didn't take their first lead until 24-23, and the Utes were forced to spoil two set points before winning the set 27-25 to even up the match.

Utah took a four-point lead at 14-10 in the third set, but Temple proved to be resilient once again. The Owls spoiled two set points for the Utes before using that momentum to take the lead in the match after winning the third set, 27-25.

With their backs against the wall, Utah built a six-point lead in the fourth set and didn't let Temple back in it, forcing a fifth by winning 25-20. Not going to let her team lose, Gauta had nine kills on 14 swings hitting .571 in the fourth set alone.

The Utes carried their momentum over in the fifth set by winning five of the first six points and Temple struggled to get back in it from there. Utah ended up closing out the final set and the match 15-8 to move their record to 6-2 on the season.

Dani Drews also had a nice offensive day finishing with 19 kills and 16 digs.

Brianna Doehrmann finished the match with 20 digs. It was the second match this season that she's had 20 digs.
The Utes have one more match today against High Point at 5 p.m.
