Viramontes earned her first win of the season allowing just one earned run and striking out five in seven innings of work.
After Cal Poly put two on base to start the game, the senior induced a grounder to first and struck out the final Mustang batter of the inning.
The Mustangs took the lead in the second after an error with one out was followed by a wild pitch. Another hit by pitch loaded the bases and a ground ball to short scored a run for a 1-0 lead.
Utah immediately answered as
Kelly Martinez started the bottom of the inning with a double to left. With two down,
Abby Robertson hit a ball to the gap in left center to tie the game.
The Utes went ahead in the third as

Hailey Hilburn took the first pitch to left for a RBI hit.
Three Cal Poly singles in the second got the Mustangs back within a run at 3-2 as Amanda Sandoval squeezed a ball through the right side.
It stayed tight until the fifth as Utah added three runs to its tally. Castaneda, Barrera and
Heather Bowen all singled to tack on one run. Hilburn smoked a line drive to the shortstop and in her haste to try to double up Barrera, the Cal Poly player threw the ball away, allowing another run to score. A wild pitch would follow and the Utes had a 6-2 lead.
Alyssa Palacios' first hit as a Ute started the sixth and she was lifted for pinch runner
Ryley Ball. After a Barrera single, Bowen sliced a double down the line that scored Ball for the final amount.
Utah 7, Fordham 2
Katie Donovan held the Fordham offense in check and
Kelly Martinez drove in four runs as Utah earned a sweep today with a win over the Rams.
Donovan went six innings, allowing one earned run and striking out eight to pick up her second win of the season.
Claire Feldman shut down the Rams to close the game.
Utah started the game with Barrera reaching on an infield single. The Fordham right fielder would then drop a Bowen fly ball, allowing runners to reach second and third. Martinez picked up her first RBI of the game on a grounder to the right side.
Fordham had runners on the corners with two down in the third when Paige Rauch grounded a ball up along the first-base line. It nicked the bag and turned away from the Utah first baseman, allowing a run to score.
Now in a tie game, the Utes responded.

Fordham got one back in the fourth when it loaded the bases with nobody out. A hit by pitch brought a run across but a pair of strikeouts, followed by a grounder to second kept the Rams from adding more.
After Donovan worked out of a jam in the fifth, Utah gave her some more support. Barrera, Bowen and Martinez all singled with one out to drive in another run. Another single, this one by Hilburn was followed by a hit off the bat ofÂ
