PALO ALTO, Calif. - The University of Utah women's soccer team (8-7-1, 4-3 Pac-12) fell by a 4-0 score at No. 1 Stanford (15-0-1, 7-0 Pac-12) Friday.
The Cardinal got on the board early as Lindsay Taylor, the team's leading scorer, put away the game's first goal in the fourth minute of play. Taylor buried a one-timer from eight yards out, set up by Teresa Noyola and Chioma Ubogagu, who each got an assist on the play.
Ubogagu then made it 2-0 in the 16th minute as she found the back of the net with a half volley after Mariah Noguiera chipped it over the Ute defense.
Coming out of halftime with a 2-0 lead, Stanford added a third goal in the 62nd minute as Taylor tallied her second of the game on a header, with Ubogagu notching another assist. Nina Watkins capped off the scoring, making it a 4-0 game in the 66th minute with her first goal of the season. Marjani Hing-Glover got the assist.
Utah senior forward Erin Dalley took two of the team's three shots, putting both on goal and forcing saves from Stanford goalkeeper Emily Oliver.
