No. 8 Utah Volleyball Team Sweeps Boise State

BOISE, IDAHO - The No. 8 University of Utah women's volleyball team (7-2) bounced back from its loss yesterday with a three-game sweep of Boise State (30-26, 30-15, 30-27) at the Boise State Invitational today. The Utes went back to the lineup they had used at the start of the season, but changed to a 6-2 (two-setter) offensive scheme.
Junior Kim Turner paced Utah with 13 kills and seven blocks, while senior Sylva Strzinkova notched eight kills and eight digs. Sophomore Lyndsey Phillips finished with a match-high eight blocks to go along with six kills. Sophomore setters Tracy Neumeier and Kelsie Kartchner split time and finished with 14 and 13 assists, respectively.
The Broncos were led by Megan Tranter and Erin Conway with 10 kills apiece. The Utes out-hit Boise State .175 to .085 and finished with nine more blocks than the Broncos (12 to 3).
"We responded to the loss (to Eastern Washington) well and came out prepared and aggressive today," Head Coach Beth Launiere said. "I'm happy with our response. You need to learn from a loss like that and move on, and that's what we did."
UP NEXT: The Utes conclude the Boise State Invitational with a 5:00 p.m. match against George Washington.
