BYU Series Review
Utah took two of three game from in-state rival Brigham Young last weekend at Miller Park in Provo, Utah. The Utes won the opener 8-7, dropped the middle game 9-6 and routed the Cougars 18-10 to close it out.
The Utes roughed Nate Fernley for seven runs in the fifth inning and handed him just his second loss of the season in an 8-7 win on Thursday night. Fernley, who fell to 11-2, put the Utes down in order the first four innings while his teammates built a 3-0 lead.

Utah starter Travis Palmer threw 6-1/3 innings, giving up five runs (four earned) off nine hits while striking out six to improve to 5-3. Mitch Maio threw the last two innings in relief. He didn't allow a single Cougar to reach base and struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth to get his second save on the season.
Brigham Young scored nine runs off 13 hits Friday in a 9-6 win. Utah chipped away at the BYU lead by scoring two runs in the fourth inning to make it 6-3. BYU led 7-4 after five innings of play.
