STILLWATER, Okla. – The University of Utah softball team dropped a 5-0 decision to the No. 23 Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Saturday in Big 12 Conference action at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.
The Utes are now 13-38 overall and 5-18 in conference in 2025.
OSU started fast in the first, loading the bases with nobody out and using a passed ball, a sacrifice fly and an RBI double to take a 3-0 lead. The Cowgirls added single runs in the third and fourth.
The Utes put runners on in the second and the third, then mounted serious scoring threats in the fifth and sixth. The former frame saw singles from
Hailee White,
Sianni Sakai and
Shelbi Ortiz load the bases, while two-out knocks off the bats of
Kennedy Proctor and
Jolie Mayfield put a runner in scoring position in the latter inning. Unfortunately for the visitors, those opportunities failed to produce a run.
Sakai had a good day at the plate for Utah, going 2-for-3, her third multi-hit performance of the season.
Shelbee Jones provided Utah will solid relief work in the circle, allowing just a single hit in two innings.
