SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
Cal Poly is currently 2-3 overall on the season and will take on LMU before facing the Utes on Saturday. The last time Utah and Cal Poly met was in 2023, when the Utes hosted the Mustangs, with Utah clinching a respective 4-0 win. Cal Poly posts a 1-1 record against Utah, with one win at home and one loss in Salt Lake City.Â
LAST TIME OUTÂ
The Utes are coming off a major upset after edging No. 24 Arizona State in a 4-3 win, improving to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play.
In doubles, Utah secured the opening point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Reid Jarvis and Dante Teramo defeated Arizona State's No. 55-ranked duo 6-3, while Berk Bugarikj and Nicolas Calixto clinched the point with a 7-5 win.
In singles, Arizona State took early wins at No. 1 and No. 2, but Utah responded with Teramo's comeback win at No. 4. After Arizona State won at No. 3, Jarvis won a tough match at No. 5, tying it 3-3. The decisive point came at No. 6, where Calixto won a dramatic three-set battle to secure the victory for Utah.
HEAD COACH ROELAND BRATEANU
Utah Head Coach Roeland Brateanu, the 2023 Pac-12 Coach of the Year and a five-time ITA Mountain Region Coach of the Year, leads the Utes for his eleventh season this spring. Under Brateanu's leadership, the Utah men captured the 2023 Pac-12 Regular Season title and secured their second straight NCAA Tournament appearance, advancing to its second consecutive second round appearance with a win over Old Dominion. The Utes finished with a 24-6 overall record and a No. 1 ranking in the ITA Mountain Region. Brateanu currently holds a 183-106 overall record at Utah.
