LAS VEGAS – The Utah men's tennis team fell 4-2 to UNLV in its final game in Las Vegas Sunday afternoon.

DOUBLES
The Rebels claimed the doubles point advantage to start the match off. UNLV first picked up a doubles win in the No. 1 spot. In No. 3 spot Charles Frey and AJ Deem responded with a 7-6 win over UNLV's Ilia Snitari and Vitaliy Horovoy. Emmett Potter and Lorenzo Esquici battled in the No. 2 spot going to 7-6 (4) tiebreaker, ultimately UNLV came out on top.

SINGLES
In singles action, UNLV won the match in the No. 1 spot. In the No. 6 spot AJ Deem faced off against Joel Gibson and won the match 6-3, 6-1. The Rebels then picked up a win in the No. 4 spot to take a 3-1 lead over Utah.

In the No. 2 spot Emmett Potter won his match by forfeit 7-6, 5-7, 2-2 against UNLV's Marko Maksimovic.

At the No. 5 spot Balthazar Huss took his match to three sets with Taiyo Hirano. Hirano took the first 6-4 and Huss responded winning the second set 7-5. Hirano closed out the third set 6-4 to claim the win. The win in the No. 5 spot clinched the victory for the Rebels 4-2.

On the No. 3 court Simeon Terziev took his match to three sets but it was ultimately left unfinished at 5-7, 6-4, 5-3 against the Rebels' Michael Kouame.

Utah is now 3-9 overall on the season.

UP NEXT
The Utes will travel back to Salt Lake City where they will take on Montana State on March 7. Utah will then host Oklahoma State on March 12 to kick off Big 12 action.
