SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah men's tennis team swept the Montana State Bobcats 7-0 this Saturday evening to close out nonconference play.

DOUBLES
In doubles action, Utah's Emmett Potter and Simeon Terziev defeated MSU's Eddie Biss and Camille Chantron 6-3 at the No. 2 spot. Next, Dante Teramo and Balthazar Huss quickly clinched the doubles point advantage with a 6-3 victory over MSU's Andre Stewart and Yassin Elaroussy on court No. 1.

The match at the No. 3 spot was left unfinished with Utah's AJ Deem and Charles Frey down 4-5 against MSU's Oumar Diallo and David Ismanescu.

SINGLES
In singles play, Utah's Balthazar Huss continued the Utes momentum by downing MSU's Camille Chantron 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot. Utah captain Dante Teramo quickly followed with a 6-1, 6-3 victory of his own at the No. 1 spot. The Utes had a 3-0 advantage over the Bobcats.

On court No. 2, Utah's Emmett Potter swept Andre Stewart 6-4, 6-2 to clinch the overall match for the Utes.

Lorenzo Esquici dropped his first set 6-3 against MSU's Ismanescu but rallied the next two sets 6-1, 6-2 for the win at the No. 4 spot. On court No. 3, Utah's Simeon Terziev won his first set 6-4 but dropped his second set 3-6. The third set was determined by a tiebreak where Terziev won 10-4.

All eyes were on court No. 6 as Charles Frey closed out the match for the day. Frey dropped his first set 5-7 but battled 7-6(5), 10-7 for the victory and ultimate 7-0 sweep for the Utes.

The Utes are now 4-9 on the season.

UP NEXT
Utah opens Big 12 action with two home matches this upcoming week. First, the Utes will face Oklahoma State on March 12 and then Arizona on March 14. The Utes will then travel to the Sunshine State to face the UCF Knights (March 21).
