SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah women's tennis team will be on the road this weekend for a Pac-12 matchup in Eugene, Oregon. The Utes will face off against the 30
thranked Oregon Ducks (12-8, 3-5 Pac-12) this Sunday at the University of Oregon Student Tennis Center.

Alexia Petrovic will come into this week ranked 121
stoverall in the country for singles play, as she defeated the 11
thranked player in the country over the weekend, Ena Shibahara of UCLA. Petrovic and
Jena Cheng are also ranked as the 53
rdoverall doubles pair coming into this week as well, as they pulled off two upset victories over the weekend. Petrovic and Cheng first defeated No. 10 Jada Hart and Terri Fleming of UCLA with a score of 6-4, followed by a victory against No. 32 Angela Kulikov and Rianna Valdes of USC, with a score of 6-4 as well. In their most recent match, the Utes are coming off of a 4-1 loss against the 40
thranked USC Trojans.The Utes started off the match on a strong note, as they were able to take to doubles point against the Trojans.
Brianna Chisholm and
Victoria Robertson recorded the first victory for the Utes on the No. 3 court, defeating Madison Wetsby and Constance Branstine with a score of 6-2.
Alexia Petrovic and
Jena Cheng were then able to pull off another upset at the No. 1 doubles position, topping No. 32 Rianna Valdes and Angela Kulikov, 6-4, to give the Utes a 1-0 lead going into singles. The Trojans were then mounted a comeback in singles. On the No. 3 court, Cheng was unable to record a win against Becca Weissman, as she fell, 6-1, 6-2. Then at the No. 4 position,
Taylor Calton was topped by USC's Angela Kulikov with a final score of 6-4, 6-1. Chisholm was then beat out by the 92
ndranked singles player in the nation, Rianna Valdes, as she fell at the No. 2 spot with a score of 7-6, 6-2. Then with the Trojans in winning position, Constance Branstine defeated Robertson on court No. 6, 6-4, 6-1, to give the Trojans the 4-1 victory.

In their most recent match, The Oregon women's tennis team ran into stiff competition this past Sunday, falling to Pac-12 leaders No. 23 Stanford, 6-1, to close out its weekend road trip in California. With four singles players and one doubles team ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's top 100, the Ducks faced a big challenge at Stanford.Shweta Sangwan and Julia Eshet gave the No. 3 duo of Emily Arbuthnott and Michaela Gordon a run for their money in doubles play, tying the match 4-4.The ranked showdown would be left unfinished though as Stanford recorded 6-2 and 6-3 wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, respectively, to clinch the opening point.The Cardinal relied on their ranked players to extend their lead in singles play as No. 74 Melissa Lord downed Julia Lilien at the No. 2 spot, 6-3, 6-1.After a win at the No. 6 spot, Stanford clinched the match victory at the No 4 position with No. 38 Arbuthnott picking up a 6-4, 6-2 win over Julia Eshet.Senior Alyssa Tobita prevented the match sweep, recording her second straight win over a ranked opponent, by defeating No. 16 Gordon at the No. 1 spot, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. Tobita's win marks the first victory over a top 20 opponent for UO this season, while improving her to 5-9 on the year against ranked foes.
