No. 30 Utah Makes Three-point Comeback to Capture 4-3 Victory Over No. 22 TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas— The No. 30-ranked Utah Utes upset the No. 22-ranked TCU Horned Frogs 4-3 Thursday afternoon after falling behind 3-1. Utah's Sara Akid and Emma Kamper claimed third set victories in singles action to clinch the overall match victory.

The Utes are now 15-5 on the season, 8-2 in Big 12 action and on a nine-match win streak.

DOUBLES
In doubles action, the TCU Horned Frogs clinched the doubles point advantage with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots.

At the No. 1 spot, Utah's No. 69-ranked pair Sara Akid and Emma Valletta were tied 4-4 with TCU's Victo Gomez O'Hayon and Yu-Chin Tsai before ultimately remaining unfinished.

SINGLES
In singles play, TCU continued its momentum with a win at the No. 6 spot before Utah's Kaila Barksdale captured a 6-4, 6-4 win over TCU's Cristi Ramos Sierra on court No. 4.

TCU responded with a 6-4, 6-4 win of their own at the No. 5 spot to bring the score 3-1 in TCU's favor.

Utah's Emmie Moore captured a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Victo Gomez O'Hayon at the No. 3 spot to spoil a Horned Frogs victory.

The last two matches were in the hands of Utah's Akid and Emma Kamper. At the No. 2 spot, Akid fell in the first set 5-7, but responded 6-3, 6-2 for the victory against TCU's Yu-Chin Tsai to tie the match 3-3.

The overall match victory came down to Utah's Kamper and TCU's Raq Caballero Chica on court No. 1. Kamper fell in her first set 6(5)-7 but battled for a 7-5, 7-5 victory to clinch the match for the Utes.

The Utes extend their win streak to nine-matches.

UP NEXT
The Utes' will travel down the Big 12 road to Waco, TX to face the Baylor Bears on April 4. The Utes will return home for senior weekend as Utah hosts Arizona and Arizona State.
