TUCSON, Ariz. - Utah Softball dropped its second game in a row to No. 9 Arizona this evening, 9-4. A five-run fourth inning doomed the Utes who will try and snag the finale tomorrow afternoon.
BreOnna Castaneda hit her team-leading fourth homer of the season, giving her a team-high five multi-RBI games this season, but it was not enough as the Utes dropped to 1-10 at UA since joining the Pac-12.
Utah tried to get going right out of the gate when
Heather Bowen got hit and
Kelly Martinez worked a walk, but Arizona escaped. Meanwhile, the 'Cats put their first two runners on and an error put them in front 1-0.
Malia Martinez followed with a two-run single down the right-field line for an early 3-0 lead.
The Utes responded in the second.
Chandler Walter reached on an error and Ally
Dickman smoked a ball to the gap for a double. Katie
Faulk smacked her first collegiate hit to get Utah on the board before Castaneda cracked her home run to push it in front, 4-3.
After a pair of shutdown innings, Miranda
Viramontes ran into trouble in the fourth. A walk and bunt back to the circle put a pair of runners on and Alyssa
PalaminoÂ
blooped a ball down the left-field line that fell for a game-tying RBI double. Reyna
Carranco followed with a two-run single to push UA back in front and two batters later,

Mulipola smacked a two-run bomb to blow the game open.
Hailey
Hilburn entered in relief and of the five outs she recorded, three were by strikeout. However, she also issued three-consecutive walks in the sixth to force in the final run of the game.Â
