WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Utah senior forward Erin Dalley has been named the Back of the West Pac-12 Women's Soccer Player of the Week, commissioner Larry Scott announced Tuesday. Dalley becomes the first Utah player to earn Player of the Week honors for women's soccer.
Dalley scored in back-to-back games over the weekend, with each goal playing a critical role in Utah's weekend sweep. Trailing 1-0 in the second half against ASU on Friday, Dalley scored on a header to tie the game at 1-1, positioning the Utes for a late game winner. On Sunday, tied with Arizona at 1-1, Dalley scored the eventual game-winning goal. She then assisted on the insurance goal, giving the Utes a 3-1 win.
Dalley has scored in three of Utah's last four games and leads the team in points (10), goals (4), game-winning goals (2), shots (26) and shots-on-goal (13). She is also tied for second in assists (2). Through three Pac-12 games, Dalley leads the conference, or is tied for the top spot, in seven statistical categories. She is ranked No. 1 in points (6) and points per game (2.00) and is tied at No. 1 in goals (2), goals per game (0.67), assists (2), assists per game (0.67) and game-winning goals (1). She also ranks No. 3 in total shots (10) and shots per game (3.33).
Utah has won five straight games and seven of its last eight, including a 3-0-0 start in its inaugural season as a member of the Pac-12. Utah recently moved up to No. 6 in the NSCAA Pacific Region rankings.
Utah is back in action this weekend as they head northwest for a Friday match at Washington State and a Sunday tilt at Washington.
