The Utes are 0-1-0 all-time against Oregon State. Their only previous meeting came in 2008 in Corvallis, Ore., as the Beavers grabbed a 1-0 overtime win.
Scouting This Weekend's Opposition...
Air Force Falcons
Air Force enters Friday's game following a split weekend that saw the Falcons grab a 3-0 home victory against Virginia Military Institute, then drop a 1-0 decision at the hands of Weber State.
The Falcons' leading scorer is Stephanie Patterson, who has logged four goals and four assists for 12 points. Megan Dozier has also scored four times to go with two assists, while Bridgett Murphy has tallied three goals and a team-high five helpers. Patterson owns two of Air Force's game-winning goals, while four other players have one each.
Defensively, Kelly Stambaugh has played the majority of time in net, making 48 saves and allowing just nine goals, for a 0.83 goals-against-average and an .842 save percentage. Sharon Aradine has also seen action in two games, recording five saves without allowing a goal.
The Falcons are coached by Larry Friend, who owns a 9-19-2 record in his second year at the helm.
Oregon State Beavers
Oregon State was ranked No. 17 in last week's NSCAA poll and could move up in the latest rankings, which will be released Tuesday. The Beavers, who reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament last year, are coming off a 3-0 neutral site win against UC Riverside, bouncing back from a 1-0 loss at UC Irvine. Oregon State makes a stop in Ogden, Utah, to face Weber State on Friday before Sunday's game at Ute Field.
Leading the offense for OSU are Chelsea Buckland and Melinda Ingalls, who have each scored four goals and notched an assist. Ingalls has tallied two match-winning strikes, while Buckland and three others have one apiece. Courtney Wetzel leads the Beavers in assists with five.
Colleen Boyd has played every minute in net for OSU and has allowed just three goals on the year to go with 17 saves. She brings a 0.36 GAA and .850 save percentage into the weekend.
Oregon State is coached by third-year head man Linus Rhode, who owns a 26-20-4 record.
Mulcock Performs Well in Backup Role...
Freshman goalkeeper Cheyanne Mulcock went 1-1 in her first two collegiate starts last weekend, earning a 2-1 win against Utah State. She also kept the Utes in the game in her first road contest at Arizona, making six saves to blank the `Cats in regulation and force overtime, where UA earned got the 1-0 win on a 97th-minute golden goal.
Mulcock started the Utes' last two games due to an injury picked up by junior netminder Hannah Turpen (ankle).
Turpen Still Ranked Second in the MWC in Saves...
Despite missing the last two games with an injury, Turpen is still ranked No.2 in the MWC in total saves (52) and saves per game with 5.20. Before having to rest her injury, Turpen was on pace to reach approximately 100 saves in the regular season, which would have ranked fourth all-time at Utah for stops in a single year.
