TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Utah women's soccer team (2-10) took Arizona (3-5-2) to overtime on the Wildcats' home field, but ultimately fell by a 1-0 score on Jasmine Ponce's golden goal in the 97th minute.
Utah was able to get off two shots in overtime as freshman forward Lexi Krantz and senior forward Lauren Hair each had their efforts sail over the crossbar. Krantz and senior midfielder Morgan Skeen tied with a team-high two shots each.
Freshman goalkeeper Cheyanne Mulcock kept the Utes in the game with six saves in just her second collegiate start. Her Arizona counterpart, Ashley Jett, made three stops in the Wildcat net.
Arizona outshot the Utes 14-7, with shots on goal going 7-3 in the Wildcats' favor. Corner kicks went 5-1 for Arizona, while fouls were whistled at nine apiece.
Utah begins conference play on the road Friday, Oct. 1, as the Utes head to the Air Force Academy to take on the Falcons at 7 p.m. MT. Utah's next home action will be Sunday, Oct. 3, as the Utes host Oregon State at 1 p.m.
