The University of Utah women's soccer team plays one on the road and one at home this week.
The Utes are 5-2-1 after stopping Cal Poly 2-0 and coming from behind to top Washington 3-2.
Utah will travel to Malibu, Calif. for a matchup with Pepperdine Friday afternoon. Kickoff time is slated for 3 p.m. PDT. The Utes are then back home to host Boise State Sunday at 1 p.m.
Utah is 1-1-1 all-time against Pepperdine. The Utes are 0-1-1 in Malibu. The last meeting was a 1-0 loss in 2005. The Utes are 3-0-0 all-time against Boise State. That record against the Broncos includes a 2-0-0 mark in Salt Lake City.
Opening Kick
Utah is the highest scoring team in the Mountain West Conference and the Utes' defense is improving. Two weeks ago, Utah was allowing the most goals of any team in the MWC. But the Utes have moved up to No. 6 in that category.
Utah is averaging 2.12 goals per game. The Utes' goals against average is down to just 1.55.
Letro Leads The Way
Utah junior Adele Letro (Davis, Calif.) scored twice against Cal Poly and hit the game-winner against Washington last week. She has now scored nine times in eight games. Letro ranks No. 1 in the MWC and No. 5 in NCAA Division I in goals per game (1.125).
Letro also had an assist Saturday, giving her 20 points for an average of 2.5 points per game, which ranks No. 1 in the MWC and No. 7 in the nation.
Letro has scored in nearly one-half (22-of 50) of her collegiate games. She now has six career multi-goal games and 15 career game-winning goals.
Reineke Rips Off A Pair
Utah junior Katy Reineke (Salt Lake City) gave Utah a spark it needed in Saturday's rain-soaked win over Washington.
With less than 30 minutes left in the contest, the Utes were down 2-0 and looking lethargic. But Reineke hammered a free kick into the top right corner and ignited a three-goal barrage over the next 20 minutes.
Reineke scored the tying goal for her first career multi-goal game. She also assisted on the game-winner.
