PROVO, Utah - The Mountain West Conference announced its 2007 women's soccer awards Tuesday night at its pre-championship banquet. The league's eight head coaches selected the all-conference teams, Offensive Players of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year.
Utah was well-represented on the All-MWC squads. Junior forward Adele Letro (Davis, Calif.) earned her third consecutive first team honor. Sophomore midfielder Kelly Isleib (Park City, Utah) was also a first-team selection.
On the second team were senior defender Kiley Jones (San Clemente, Calif.) and junior midfielder Melissa Crespo (Milpitas, Calif.).
UNLV's Katie Carney and Wyoming's Tamika Wilson shared the league's Offensive Player of the Year award, while San Diego State goalkeeper Aubree Southwick was the Defensive Player and Freshman of the Year. Kat Mertz, who led UNLV to the MWC regular-season title, was named the conference Coach of the Year.
The Mountain West Conference Championship tournament begins Wednesday, with Utah facing Wyoming at 1 p.m. in Provo.
