The University of Utah women's soccer team has a shot at revenge Wednesday in the first round of the Mountain West Conference Championship tournament.
The Utes will play Wyoming in the first round. The Cowgirls defeated Utah 4-1 Saturday in Laramie, when a victory would have given Utah the No. 2 seed in the tournament. Instead, the Utes come in as the No. 5 seed and Wyoming is the No. 4.
In order to exact revenge, Utah is going to have to be creative with its lineup. The Utes will be without senior Melissa Crespo and junior Amanda Sanchez, who both picked up red cards at Wyoming. Utah may also be missing freshmen Nicole Cardon (knee) and Alyssa Toomey (ankle), who are questionable.
Opening Kick
The Mountain West Conference Championship tournament will be held in the State of Utah for the second consecutive season. After hosting the tournament last season, Utah will make the short trip down I-15 to Provo this year.
It could be a good sign for the Utes that they don't have to leave the state. Utah is just 1-4-3 outside the confines of the Beehive State this season. The lone win was a 2-1 result over Arizona in the season-opener.
