HONOLULU, Hawaii--The Utah softball team was downed by No. 25 Northwestern on Friday at the Hawaii Invitational. The loss drops Utah to 7-18 on the year. Utah faces Texas tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. local time.

The freshman allowed four runs (one earned) and walked three. Freshman Melissa Oakes would then come in and toss the next two and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs off seven hits. Senior Heather Bowlin threw the final innings, allowing four more earned runs. Schroeder falls to 2-4 on the year with the loss.
Utah would score in the third inning after Bryanne Durrence singled in Jenni Thurston. Down 8-1, Thurston would score again in the fifth off an infield single by Glennis Donnelly.
