SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Utah baseball team fell to 0-2 on the season with an 11-0 loss to No. 7 Arizona State in the Coca-Cola Classic tonight. The Utes gave up 11 runs on 12 hits and committed three errors in the loss.
Junior Doug Mackay suffered the loss on the mound, falling to 0-1 on the season. The right-hander pitched 4.2 innings, giving up 11 runs on 10 hits. He struck out six and walked four.
Senior first baseman Michael Westfall was the only Ute with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 on the night. The other Utah hits came from senior Cort Wilson, junior Matt Ciaramella and redshirt freshman Jake Waldram.
