LOGAN, Utah - Amanda Feigt couldn't have picked a more opportune time to score her first goal as a Ute.
The freshman forward from Sandy, Utah, took a quick shot off a deflection in front of the goal and punched it past keeper Megan Mills 3:27 into the first overtime to give the Utes a 1-0 win over Utah State on Tuesday afternoon. Bobbie Benegas was credited with the assist.
Utah, ranked No. 24 in this week's Soccer America poll, got its third consecutive win to improve to 5-1-0. Utah State fell to 4-3-0.
The Utes tripled Utah State's number of shots (15-5) and forced Mills to make five saves. Amber Brower fired five shots and Feigt attempted four, scoring on her only shot on goal. Utah also had the advantage in corner kicks 4-1.
Utah's goalkeepers combined for their second consecutive shutout. Kaycie Zimmerman started the game for the Utes, making one save in the first 45 minutes. Ashley Mason finished the game, making two saves.
