Utah Baseball Team Shuts Down Creighton 6-0

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The University of Utah baseball team shutout Creighton 6-0 this afternoon in the final day of the Texas A&M Domino's Pizza Aggie Classic in College Station, Texas. The Utes are now 3-2 at the tournament.
Freshman Jason Price got the start on the mound, pitching the entire game and giving up just three hits and no runs. He also struck out two batters.
Utah scored three runs in the third inning, when senior Mike Basham doubled to left center, then stole third. Junior Wick Udy then singled to center field, driving in Basham.
Next up was sophomore Matt Ciaramella, who singled through the left side. Both runners then advanced a base on a wild pitch, putting Udy at third and Ciaramella at second.
After senior Jake Jordison struck out, junior Mike Westfall singled up the middle, bringing Udy and Ciaramella home and giving Utah a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Utes struck again when sophomore Brett Sundberg was hit by a pitch, then advanced to second on a throwing error by the Creighton pitcher. Freshman Ryan Khoury then singled and stole second, putting Utah runners on second and third. Junior Jared Pena then sacrifice flied to right field, driving in Sundberg.
Basham singled on the next play, bringing Khoury home. When Udy singled to right field on the next play, Basham advanced to third. Ciaramella then reached on a fielder's choice with Udy out on the play, but Basham scored, bringing the score to 6-0, which it remained for the final 2 1/2 innings.
Junior Eric Chevalier went 3-for-3 on the day, while Westfall and Ciaramella were 2-for-3 and Basham and Udy went 2-for-4. Westfall drove in two runs, while Basham, Udy, Ciaramella and Pena had one RBI each.
