COLLEGE STATION, Texas - For the second day in a row, the University of Utah baseball team was shutout 3-0 by UCLA at the Texas A&M Domino's Pizza Aggie Classic. In its second game of the day, the Utes managed just three hits. Utah is now 6-4 overall and 2-2 at the tournament.
Freshman righthander Derek Larsen (2-1) got the loss, throwing three innings, allowing four hits and giving up one run, which was unearned. After sophomore Dan Simonsen came in for 1/3 of an inning, sophomore Brett Sundberg entered the game. Sundberg pitched 3 2/3 innings, giving up two hits and two runs, while striking out four.
The Utah hits came from Jordison (single), junior Eric Chevalier (double) and sophomore Jared Snyder (single).
UP NEXT:
The Utes face Creighton at 1 p.m. (CST) and Texas A&M at 5 p.m. (CST), tomorrow, Feb. 24, to conclude the tournament.
