COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The University of Utah baseball team fell to 4-3 on the season when it was shutout 3-0 today by UCLA at the Texas A&M Domino's Pizza Aggie Classic in College Station, Texas.
UNLV scored in the first on a two-run single. The Bruins rounded the plates again in the third, taking a three-run lead, which it maintained for the remainder of the game.
Junior Sean Overholt pitched the entire game for the Utes, throwing six innings, giving up three runs on eight hits while striking out six.
Offensively, Utah managed just five hits and no runs off UCLA starter Casey Janssen, who pitched all seven innings for the Bruins. He struck out seven Ute batters.
Junior Wick Udy led Utah at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two singles, while sophomore Matt Ciaramella was 2-for-3 with a single and a double. Utah's only other hit came in the seventh inning from junior Mike Westfall.
