SALT LAKE CITY - Amber Brower, a senior forward on the Utah women's soccer team, has been named to the 2003 NSCAA/adidas Women's College Scholar All-America first team. She was also placed on the Scholar All-West Region first team.
Brower led the Utes with nine goals this season, including six game-winners, and had four assists. The business major has a 3.35 grade point average.
The Hyrum, Utah, native has also been named first team NSCAA All-West Region, the MWC Offensive Player of the Year, first team all-conference, and second team CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII.
To qualify for the NSCAA all-academic teams, a player must be at least a junior in academic standing, have a minimum of a 3.30 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale), start more than 50 percent of the time and be a significant contributor to the team's success.
The honorees will be recognized at the NSCAA All-America Luncheon on Jan. 17. The luncheon is part of the 57th Annual NSCAA Convention, which will be held Jan. 14-18 at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, N.C.
