SALT LAKE CITY--The Utes evened their series against the Rebels by winning game two, 3-1 on Monday at Franklin Covey Field. The game was the first of a doubleheader for the Utah (25-18, 9-8) and UNLV (20-22, 6-11).
Mitch Maio (7-1) earned his seventh win of the season after allowing one run off five hits in a seven-inning complete game effort. The senior righthander struck out nine batters, while walking four and stranding eight.
Utah scored its three runs in the second. Nate Weese led off the inning with a single and then stole second and third to move into scoring position.
