Utes Take Two-Of-Three From Mesa State

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-The Utes took two-of-three from Mesa State by winning game three, 12-3, on Sunday. Utah improves to 6-6 on the season. Mesa State falls to 4-7.
The Utah bats were connecting in the top of the sixth inning as it boasted four homeruns and six runs to jump out to a, 9-3, lead. The inning began when Mike Basham singled and then scored off Jake Jordison's first homerun of the year. The long ball was contagious as Adam Castleton launched a two-run homer over the center field wall and Nate Weese, who had homered in the inning before, knocked out his second of the game. Brit Pannier concluded the derby with his first homerun of the season.
Utah added three more runs in the top of the eighth to build the, 12-3, final score. Pannier launched his second homerun of the game, scoring Donnie Saba and Jared Snyder. Pannier finished the game with four RBI, two runs scored and three hits. Weese scored two runs and added three RBI off his two homeruns. Castleton and Jordison knocked in two runs each in the win.
Ryan Reisbeck (1-0) earns his first win of the season after allowing one run (none earned) in 3.0 innings of work. Freshman Brady Martinez started the game for Utah. Martinez threw 4.0 innings and gave up two runs. Nate Miller was credited with the loss for the Mavericks.
