Utah Baseball Wins Second Straight Game

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-Utah won its second straight game by defeating Mesa State College, 8-6 on Friday night. The Utes move to 5-5 on the season, while the Mavericks fall to 3-6.
Mesa State took the lead early after scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. The lead didn't last long, as Utah answered with four runs (2-4) of its own in the top of the third, and never looked back.
Donnie Saba hit his first homerun of the season and added a double and two RBI for the Utes. Brit Pannier and Nate Weese increased their hitting streaks to five games. Pannier was 2-of-5 with two RBI and a stolen base, while Weese drove in two runs off two hits and scored a run. Adam Castleton did most of the Utes scoring. Castleton crossed the plate three times and also finished with two hits, an RBI and a stolen base.
Jason Wylie (3-1) picked up his third win of the season after allowing four runs in 8.0 innings. Bryan King (1-1) was credited with the loss for Mesa State.
Game two will be played Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (MT).
