Quoting Head Coach Rich Manning:
On the win over BYU - "I just want to congratulate both teams. This is about as exciting as college soccer gets. Both teams played well and had a lot of chances-we ended up on top."
"BYU showed a lot of character throughout the game. We almost made it through but then we cracked at the end."
On regrouping after BYU tied the game - "The assistant coaches and some of the players started talking about 'lets keep it going'. I have a hard time describing why this team is so good. I call them the even stevens because there are so many great players and that is what builds the character of the team."
On playing Portland Saturday - "Portland is a tremendous team. Obviously, they were not at full strength when we beat them earlier this year and now they are. I'm sure they will want payback. This is a great opportunity to measure up against another great program."
Quoting Senior Megan Maxwell: "I told my teammate Maren that 'I think I can do it, I think I can kick this in'-and it just went. This is my senior year and I knew it could be my last game."
Quoting Junior Missy Dennis: "This is great for our seniors to beat BYU. BYU played a great game and never gave up. On my goal, I just chipped it over the goalkeepers head."
Quoting Senior Katie Tate: "We came back in the overtime, knowing we were dominating the whole game. We knew we had it in us and that if we just kept our heads in it we could pull in out."
Quoting Senior Shauna Gurr-Bingham: "I would rather beat BYU and advance in the NCAAs, than break the record."
