SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Diego State Aztecs took sole possession of first-place in the Mountain West Conference with their 6-3 win over the Utah Utes on Saturday. The Aztecs (18-12, 7-4 MWC) scored twice in the fourth inning to give them a 4-2 lead on their way to the win. They outhit the Utes (17-15, 6-5 MWC) 10-8 and took advantage of three Utah errors.
Sam Swenson led the Utes with a 2-for-4 game. He scored in run and drove in another. Mike Westfall also had two hits, while Brit Pannier had two RBI and a double in the game. Travis Palmer suffered the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) in seven innings of work.
The win gave the Aztecs a one-game lead over the Utes in the Mountain West Conference standings. The two team will wrap-up their three-game series on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. (MST).
