SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Diego State Aztecs completed a three-game sweep of the Utah Utes after taking a 6-5, 10-inning win on Sunday. The Aztec scored the winning run in the 10th after an Anthony Gwynn single. He then stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by Utah catcher Chris Shelton. Andy Litteral then singled to drive in Gwynn and give the Aztecs (19-12, 8-4 MWC) the win. The Utes fell to 17-16 overall and 6-6 in the Mountain West Conference, two-games behind the Aztecs and one back of BYU.
Sam Swenson continued his hot play of late, going 3-for-5 with two RBI. Adam Castleton added two hits and two runs scored. Jason Wylie (1-0) got the start for the Utes and went 6.1 innings allowing just three earned runs on five hits. He also recorded two strikeouts and walked two. Brett Lindsey (3-4) suffered the loss in relief after allowing the Aztecs run in the 10th.
Next up for the Utes is a three-game home series with the BYU Cougars. BYU is currently one game ahead of the Utes in the standings.
