SAN DIEGO - The Utah baseball team dropped its first game in a three-game contest to San Diego 7-1. The Utes scored one run on six hits with one error and the Toreros had seven hits on nine runs with one error.
Utah scored their only run in the top of the seventh. With two outs, third baseman Mike Goff hit a double that was followed up by a double by catcher Donald Hawes for the score. Goff led the day for the Utes hitting 2-for-4.
David Ebright started on the mound for Utah pitching six innings. He gave up six hits and three earned runs while striking out three batters. Jason Wylie rounded out the last two innings of the game facing 10 batters. He gave up three hits and struck out two.
The Utes face the Toreros for their second game Sat., Feb. 26 at 1:00 p.m.
