LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Utah baseball team falls to 1-1 against No. 16 ranked Loyola Marymount after a 4-1 loss today. The Utes pulled out 4-3 victory over the Lions yesterday scoring two runs in the top of the ninth inning to win the contest. In today's loss, Utah battled a 2-0 deficit in the first inning and was only able to score one run in the fourth, while giving up single runs in the bottom of the eighth and ninth. The Utes had one run on seven hits with three errors. The Lions scored four runs on seven hits with only one error.
Catcher Josh France was 2-of-2 at the plate scoring the Utes only run and hitting his first double of the season.
Pitcher Jared Cavaness is 1-2 on the season. The senior pitched six innings. In 29 batters faced, he allowed five hits, three runs and struck out three batters.
The Utes round out the three-game series against Loyola Marymount tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
