SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's soccer team hosts Kansas Fri., Sept. 3 at 5:00 p.m. and Texas A&M Mon., Sept. 6 at 12:00 p.m. Both games will be played at Ute Field.
Kansas is 1-1 season losing to Colorado (1-2) and defeating Wyoming 4-1. Last year, Kansas was 5-13-1 with a 1-8-1 Big 12 record. This is the first match-up between the Utes and the Jayhawks.
No. 15 ranked Texas A&M is 2-0 bolstering two shutouts over Oklahoma (5-0) and Oklahoma State (4-0). The Aggies were 14-8 in 1998, with a 7-2 mark in the Big 12. The team advanced to the NCAA second round, losing to Nebraska (7-0). Utah is 0-1 against the Aggies with a 4-0 loss in 1997.
Utes to Watch
Senior forward Staci Burt scored two goals in the Utes 3-2 victory over Idaho State (Aug. 27). She leads the team in scoring (2) and points (4)
Ute midfielder Amy Kofoed scored her first game-winning goal of the season to give Utah the win over Idaho State. She is second on the team in scoring (1) and points (2).
Freshman goalkeeper Courtney Hills is 1-0. She allowed two goals and had eight saves.
Recent Results
In a heated game resulting in 18 fouls and one yellow card, the Utah women's soccer team opened its 1999 season with a 3-2 victory over Idaho State. The Bengals had 12 fouls w
hile the Utes had six and one yellow card was given to Alli Cerruti. While Idaho State outshout the Utes 15-12, Utah came away with the victory. Staci Burt scored the first Ute goal under the five minute mark from an assist by Mondis Ariazand. She then came back to score again ten minutes later on a feed from junior centerfielder Tonya Dansreau.
Utah finished out its scoring streak with a goal by Amy Kofoed assisted by freshman Sandi Fouts.
