The Utah baseball team was defeated by Brigham Young 9-2 tonight. The Utes are 0-2 in the two-game series with the Cougars losing earlier in the season with the same score.
The loss drops Utah to 18-26 (6-16) and boosts BYU to 22-29 (8-15). Utah had two runs on three hits with one error including a double by senior Ryan Hilts.
Troy Beckman takes his record to 1-3. He pitched five innings, striking out three batters and giving up eight hits. Brigham Young had nine runs on 17 hits with one error. The Cougars had five doubles.
The Utes take the field again this weekend hosting Fresno State, May 7-9. Friday's game begins at 7:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday's games are scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
